Chemical Engineering junior, James Owens, recently received the “Best Presentation in Electrochemistry” award from Rice University for his presentation at the university’s 2018 Gulf Coast Undergraduate Research Symposium (GCURS).

Owens, a member of assistant professor Michael Bortner’s research group in Chemical Engineering at Virginia Tech, participated in the Chemical and Biological Engineering division with a presentation titled “In-situ Production of Hydrogen Peroxide via Electrochemical Reduction of Anthraquinone Electrodes", a joint project between the Hatton and Surendranath Groups at MIT.
